Tripath to Unveil New Digital Audio Technology and
Products at the Consumer Electronics Show (16/12/2003)
Tripath Technology Inc., creators of Digital Power
Processing (DPP(R)) and Class-T(TM) advanced 1-bit digital audio
amplifiers, will unveil breakthrough new technology in highly efficient,
low-cost, audiophile-quality digital audio amplifiers at the Consumer
Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nev., from January 8-11, 2004.
Tripath will be showing the broadest selection
of digital amplifier products in the industry, including the following
new products:
Tripath's new "Godzilla" family of CMOS digital
amplifiers substantially reduces the cost of digital amplifiers
by using CMOS silicon technology for functions previously requiring
high-cost DMOS technology and will pave the way for mass-market
adoption of Class-T(TM) digital amplifiers. Only Tripath's innovative
Class-T(TM) architecture enables this breakthrough in cost-reduction
while maintaining the industry's highest audio fidelity in a digital
amplifier. Competitive digital amplifier technologies will not be
able to make similar cost reductions without incurring severe audio
performance degradation from their current levels.
TK2019 and TK2070, the most flexible low-cost
digital amplifiers for Home Theater applications will be shown in
multiple configurations. With just two small-footprint low-cost
devices, a design engineer can design several products to meet the
needs of the consumer audio market. For example, a 6 x 20-Watt Home
Theater design can be upgraded to a 5 x 20-Watt design plus a 70-Watt
subwoofer channel by adding only a single 8-pin device and no additional
power supplies.
TAA4100, the only 4 x 100-Watt amplifier
in a single package, will be unveiled and is a continuation of Tripath's
leadership in automotive electronics. The TA2041A family of automotive
amplifier products, the only 4 x 70-Watt single chip amplifiers
in the world, are currently in production. The harsh automotive
environment, consumer demand for higher audio performance in their
vehicles and the establishment of the new Car Theater segment are
each addressed by the TA2041A family of digital audio amplifiers.
The TAA4100 not only increases power output by almost 50% over the
TA2041A, but it is also capable of driving 2-ohm speakers, a requirement
specifically requested by some automotive customers.
"For 2004, we will continue to expand our
product offerings in audio amplifiers, DSL line drivers and in new
markets. We are particularly enthusiastic about our progress in
the flat panel TV and automotive businesses and believe our Godzilla
architecture will enable a large portion of Home Theater manufacturers
to convert to smaller, more-efficient and cost-effective Class-T(TM)
amplifiers versus traditional analog amplifiers," said Dr. Adya
Tripathi, chairman, president, and CEO. "Besides our exciting new
products, we will also be highlighting products of our key customers
and visitors will be able to audition the Class-T(TM) difference."
