BenQ Introduces Second $999 Digital Projector with PB6100 (17/11/2003)

PalmPro Series Offers a Definitive Solution for Professional and Personal Video Applications and Installations

BenQ, a leading manufacturer of DLP -based digital projectors, introduced its second entry into the $999 digital projector category with the PB6100. Its sturdy, yet lightweight package makes it an ideal digital projector for a variety of professional and personal home theater applications and installations.

With a native resolution of 800 x 600, the PB6100 is an SVGA digital projector that utilizes proprietary BenQ video-processing technology to support the latest DLP chip set from Texas Instruments. The new DDR DLP chipsets produce flawless pictures that won't fade or degrade over time, and the optical engine lifetime exceeds 100,000* hours while maintaining the images' original clarity. The PB6100 is HDTV-compatible (480p, 720p and 1080i) with direct YPbPr/component (through VGA port), S-Video and composite video inputs.

"With the $999 price point, the BenQ PB6100 is the perfect projector for those wanting a powerful, yet compact projector," said Jeff Chen, vice president of Digital Media at BenQ America. "It delivers the functionality needed to operate in various environments, such as a conference room or even entry-level home theater system. The size, weight and features of the PB6100 make it an ideal digital video solution that you can take or install anywhere."

The BenQ PB6100

The BenQ PB6100 has a high 2000:1 contrast ratio at 1,500 ANSI lumens. It can support resolutions from 640 x 350 up to 1280 x 1024 and 4:3 or 16:9 aspect ratios for presentations and personalized movie/DVD viewing. The PB6100 also boasts a 3,000-hour lamp life in "Economy" mode, which allows cost-saving measures in the long-run. It is compatible with NTSC, PAL, SECAM and NTSC 4.43 video systems.

The BenQ PB6100 also integrates BenQ's proprietary Dynamic Color Management System (DCMS) technology and supports 16.7 million color palettes, as well as four-segment color wheels to ensure accurate color reproduction. It features PIP functions and a Digital Keystone correction system for quick and easy set-up.

All BenQ digital projectors come with the company's product commitment-a free first year "Xpress Xchange" program and a three-year limited warranty, which is one of the best warranties in the market for this $999 price category.

*Under normal operating conditions, the DLP imaging device life time exceeds 100,000 operating hours.
