CEO Waitt Unveils 14 Cutting-Edge Digital Devices for Consumers and Businesses

Just over a year ago Gateway, Inc. kicked off a revolution in consumer electronics by introducing its 42-inch plasma TV at the unprecedented price of $2,999. After introducing dozens of new Gateway-branded products in the last year, Gateway today unveiled 14 additional cutting-edge products for consumers and businesses at its Union Square store here which -- along with the network of Gateway(R) stores nationwide -- has been completely remodeled to embody digital convergence at home and work.

Gateway Chairman and CEO Ted Waitt today unveiled nine exciting consumer electronics products:

* Gateway(TM) DVD recorder, which brings DVD recording from the PC to the living room, providing a superior alternative to the VCR ($349) (2).

* Gateway(TM) DC-T23 2-megapixel and Gateway DC-M42 4.1-megapixel digital cameras that bring even more features and value to Gateway's industry-acclaimed digital camera line ($129 and $249, respectively)(2).

* Gateway(TM) 23- and 26-inch LCD TVs, which complete Gateway's digital TV lineup with 12 models ranging from 13 to 56 inches ($1,499 and $2,299, respectively).

* Gateway(R) 901 Family Room Media Center, which delivers all the functionality of a Media Center PC in an exciting design that's optimized for the living room or family room with the styling and footprint of a standard stereo component (pricing TBA).

* Gateway Power Line networking system, which utilizes existing power lines in the home or office to network PCs with ease ($49.99)(2) and affordable 802.11g USB adapter, which delivers high-speed wireless networking without the need for extra cards ($59.99) (2).

Waitt also introduced three innovative PCs for home and office:

* Gateway M675 notebook PC -- a high-performance mobile workstation with 17-inch widescreen and built-in numeric keypad for number crunching (starting at $1,999)(2).

* Gateway M505 multimedia notebook PC with built-in subwoofer and one- touch audio/video keys (starting at $1,599)(2).

* Gateway M275 convertible tablet PC ($1,799)(2), which combines the best of a notebook and tablet with a built-in optical drive and one of the largest screen sizes available in a tablet today.

The company also debuted two additions to its recently expanded data storage product line, which will be officially launched at Comdex next week:

* Gateway Network Attached Storage (NAS) appliance for businesses -- Gateway's first NAS product and an ideal file-serving and storage solution for growing businesses.

* Gateway Serial ATA JBOD storage device -- the first product of its kind, which will sell for about a quarter of the price of a comparable SCSI JBOD with similar performance, capacity (2TB) and reliability.

"Gateway has made a sweeping transformation from a traditional PC company into a branded integrator of digital products and services," said Waitt. "For consumers, we've become a leading source for cool digital electronics that deliver unparalleled value. Businesses now have in Gateway another top-tier provider for not only their core IT needs, but also customized AV solutions for their customer-facing operations, along with legendary Gateway service that sets us apart from the giant IT companies."
