InterVideo's LinDVD Navigation and Playback Software
Selected for Pioneer's New DVD Recorders Integrated with TiVo (5/11/2003)
Software Technology Provides Users with Unique
Combination of PC and Consumer Electronics, Easy Navigation, Highest-quality
Playback
InterVideo, Inc. announced today that LinDVD,
the Linux version of its award-winning WinDVD(R) video player software,
is incorporated with Pioneer Electronic's new DVR-57H and DVR-810H-S
DVD Recorders, the world's first DVD Recorders equipped with TiVo(R)
service. LinDVD is a stable software technology that allows PC and
consumer electronics users to play all of the different tracks on
a DVD, skip chapters, fast forward, backward, pause, enjoy different
camera angles, etc.
InterVideo's experience in developing WinDVD,
the world's most popular DVD player, and LinDVD, the first legal
PC DVD software for the Linux operating system, enabled the company
to provide Pioneer with powerful DVD player/decoder software that
delivers the highest-quality playback. Rigorously tested, LinDVD
also provides broad compatibility.
Earlier this year, Aberdeen analysts projected
that the CE industry would be making a migration to Linux -- initially
to gain a cost advantage and subsequently, as use becomes widespread,
to avoid a cost disadvantage.
"A growing number of the major consumer electronics
manufacturers are looking at the Linux platform as a stable, low-cost
solution for multimedia functionality," said Steve Ro, CEO and founder
of InterVideo. "Pioneer and TiVo are at the forefront of this trend
and Pioneer has added to the excitement by combining the most popular
entertainment components into a single, convenient solution. We
are proud to have our DVD player/navigation technology included
with their innovative products."
