News Meridian Introduces New G Series 24-bit Upsampling Compact Disc Player (5/11/2003) Model G08 Evolved from Award Winning 588 and 800 Players Forming part of Meridian Audio's new G Series line of high performance digital and analogue consumer audio components, the G08 24-bit Upsampling Compact Disc Player is now in full production. The G08 employs a latest-generation CD-ROM drive mechanism with custom, Meridian-written control, navigation, and error-correction software for unmatched speed and reliability of disc-handling as well as future upgradeability. Uniquely powerful re-clocking using FIFO RAM buffering completes the equation for full, permanent elimination of jitter as an audible factor. It is compatible with relevant mass-produced and recordable variants of the CD Audio format, including CD-R and MP-3. The G08 also incorporates balanced (XLR) analogue outputs and Meridianās unique upsampling capability. In the G08, upsampling of CD-standard PCM to 24-bit, 176.4/192 kHz data yields dramatic sonic improvements, applicable to the vast existing library of digital recordings. The Meridian G08 Compact Disc Player has a retail price of £2250.00 including VAT.
