New Product Development Executive From Formula One Puts Opus In Pole Position (28/10/2003)

Opus Technologies, a leading manufacturer of multi-room entertainment systems and structured wiring solutions, today announced the appointment of Ian Matt as Product Development Executive. Ian's primary responsibilities will be to drive the delivery of new Opus products and stimulate demand from new markets.

Ian joins Opus from a background in electronics design for Formula One race cars. Ian was a part of the small team that designed and built the electronics for the first Panasonic Toyota car and then moved to Jaguar Racing before joining Opus. At Jaguar, he was responsible for developing top secret key components, coming up with experimental concepts and seeing these through to installation in order to enhance the performance of Eddie Irvine's F1 car.

"Opus wants to deliver products more rapidly to meet the increasingly diverse demands of the market," commented James Johnson-Flint, Group CEO of Opus Technologies. "With Ian's energy and creativity, Opus can meet these demands and he will be a key member of our team, helping us to identify and tackle new customer segments to extend the cutting edge of the Opus product proposition."

"Moving from F1 to custom installation products may seem like a dramatic move but I have noted that this burgeoning industry needs to have the same fast pace and inspired creativity of F1. This will help Opus to meet consumer demands and build mass market acceptance," added Ian.

Ian holds a BEng (Hons) in Electronics Systems Design from Bournemouth University and is a keen sportsman involved in rugby, rowing and triathlons.
