Wood, Lacquer and Leather add Custom Finishing Touch to Aquos LCD TVs

'Any colour as long as it's silver' has long been the 'choice' for consumers looking to buy a new TV. Now, for people looking for something rather more individual and exclusive, Sharp is offering its 37" widescreen Aquos LCD TVs with a choice of real wood, leather or lacquer front fascias in addition to the standard brushed silver effect.

Styled by renowned Japanese product designer Toshiyuki Kita, the new Custom Series LCD TVs are a striking alternative to more conventional flat panel televisions. The wood fascias use natural cherry and oak and are made by traditional wood crafters from Hida-Takayama, Japan, whilst the leather front cabinets are finished in high-quality leather by skilled upholsterers and the lacquer fascias use the traditional Japanese Wajima method, which gives a very deep shine.

The stunning looks of the TVs are complemented by the latest in LCD screen and 1-bit audio technologies, giving superb picture and sound quality. The 37" widescreen LCD panel incorporates the latest generation of Sharp's unique Advanced Super View (ASV) system, giving a viewing angle of 170¼ horizontally and vertically and class-leading brightness with excellent contrast. Sharp's 1-bit digital amplification system offers extremely pure sound whilst retaining the warmth of the original television programme or DVD soundtrack recording.

The Custom Series offers a wide range of connections for home cinema equipment, including three Scart terminals, component video input and PC input, housed in the separate AV centre.

But with a choice of three stylish finishes, the Custom Series looks just as good switched off as turned on. The Series will be available in cherrywood, black leather and black lacquered finishes during 2004.ext
