Sharp Electronics Offers an Aquos Liquid Crystal
Television For Every Area Of The Home
New panels and design enhance the AQUOS line's appeal for custom
installation
Sharp Electronics Corporation is ensuring that no matter where
a homeowner or design professional wants to place an AQUOS Liquid
Crystal TV, it can supply the perfect size and shape. Sharp, the
leader in Liquid Crystal technology*, has expanded its flat-panel
AQUOS line with new widescreen and 4:3 models. Sharp continues to
boast the industry's largest selection of full-featured LC-TVs,
offering a range of designs, screen sizes and colors. Whether a
small side table in a guest bedroom or a large wall in the den,
there is an AQUOS to fill the need.
The AQUOS line features new models that are
easy to use and set up; select models feature:
* Newly developed glossy clear-coat finishes
on cabinets
* Sizes ranging from 13 - 37 inches with
various design options, to fit into any space in the home
* Sharp's proprietary 1-Bit digital audio
technology
"Our customers want TVs that blend into any
decor. Sharp's new AQUOS TV line fulfills consumers' desires by
delivering the best possible picture quality in a variety of modern,
high-style designs," said Tony Favia, senior product manager, Liquid
Crystal Television, Sharp Electronics Corporation. "We are now giving
users more flexibility to place AQUOS TVs in virtually any room,
such as in an entertainment center, under a cabinet, or hung on
a living room wall like a picture."
All the new AQUOS models feature the latest
state-of-the-art ASV (Advanced Super View) panel, and the widescreen
models are outfitted with Sharp's proprietary QS (Quick Shoot) technology
to increase the pixel response time, which effectively reduces the
visual lag inherent in fast-motion scenes, creating a cleaner, crisper
movie-viewing experience. The improved panels also feature Sharp's
proprietary "Black TFT" low-reflection coating, which cuts down
on the glare from bright-light conditions. This means that no matter
where the TV is placed, the picture quality will not be affected
by a window or skylight. The sets all boast 170-degree viewing angles
for exceptional picture quality from practically anywhere in the
room, creating a larger seating and viewing area. AQUOS TVs also
feature an enhanced contrast ratio and extremely high brightness,
providing blacker blacks and vivid, crisp color with brilliant quality
and clarity, for exceptional viewing in any lighting condition.
Widescreen AQUOS
The new widescreen AQUOS models feature 1-Bit
digital audio amplifiers and detachable speakers located at the
bottom of the screen, offering consumers more design flexibility
when placing the sets in any room. The units also feature an elegant
table stand that makes setup easy. With the included stand or optional
mounting brackets, the widescreen AQUOS televisions can be hung
on a wall, placed on a bookshelf, or put almost anywhere imaginable
in the home. The 37-inch model actually takes up less space than
a traditional 36-inch 4:3 set, since the AQUOS speakers are located
at the bottom of the screen. This allows consumers who have entertainment
centers built for these 36-inch sets to instead enjoy a 37-inch,
16:9 High Definition Liquid Crystal picture in the same space.
AQUOS Liquid Crystal TVs offer many advantages
over similar-sized plasma TVs, such as higher brightness, no burn-in,
longer lamp life, wider viewing angles, slimmer and lighter form
factor, lower power consumption, and a more elegant design. Additionally,
the long lamp life of 60,000 hours and low power consumption - 60
percent less power than comparably sized standard CRT (cathode-ray
tube) direct-view televisions - make the AQUOS line as energy efficient
as it is attractive.
LC-30HV6U and LC-37HV6U
Perfect for the family room or an intimate
home theater setting, the larger widescreen AQUOS Liquid Crystal
Televisions allow viewers to enjoy impressive full-screen images
from wide-format video. Both the LC-37HV6U and LC-30HV6U have a
widescreen aspect ratio for viewing movies in their original format,
Quick Shoot technology, WXGA resolution, and both offer high-definition
compatibility (1080i/720p) so viewers can watch high-definition
television (HDTV) broadcasts** in widescreen format. The LC-37HV6U
has a resolution of 1366 x 768 and an enhanced 800:1 contrast ratio.
This resolution fits a perfect 16:9 aspect ratio, so no scaling
or other video enhancement is needed for 16:9 content, allowing
for artifact-free clarity. The 30-inch AQUOS model features an extremely
high 700:1 contrast ratio and has a WXGA resolution of 1280 x 768.
In addition, both models include an upgraded
Audio Video Computer system (AVC system), which is a separate unit
that houses the component, S-Video and computer (PC) inputs, thereby
reducing the cable clutter around the panel itself for a clean,
stylish look. The new AVC system is also equipped
with a DVI-I input capable of High Definition
Content Protection (HDCP) protocol, which ensures compatibility
with next-generation high-definition set-top boxes, making the new
AQUOS the perfect solution for today and well into the future. In
addition, the AVC system includes Sharp's second-generation Computer
and Video Integrated Composer (CV-IC II) System which provides state-of-the-art,
proprietary video scaler circuitry that upconverts standard signals
to the native HD resolution of the televisions.
LC-22SV6U
The new 22-inch widescreen AQUOS, model LC-22SV6U,
features a widescreen aspect ratio, for viewing movies in a traditional,
widescreen format. The wide VGA resolution (854 x 480) Quick Shoot
technology, and 500:1 contrast ratio ensure a sharp, clear picture,
and the two five-watt speakers deliver high-quality stereo sound.
The set is also 480p Enhanced Definition TV-compatible, for compatibility
with progressive DVD players.
4:3 AQUOS
The sleek new lines of 4:3 AQUOS, dubbed
the "B4U" and "S2U" series, are available in 13-, 15- and 20-inch
screen sizes with silver cabinets. Both lines feature 480p (EDTV)
compatibility for progressive DVDs, and an Auto Clock Function,
which automatically sets the TV's timeclock for display on demand.
Multiple video signal inputs (Component, S-Video and Composite),
built-in TV tuner, remote control and V-chip make the TVs both flexible
and easy to use. The sets can sit on any flat surface with the included
stand, or they may be beautifully mounted on any wall with the optional
mounting brackets.
The S2U AQUOS models feature an innovative
new glossy clear-coat design with the speakers located on the bottom
of the screen, giving consumers more TV placement flexibility. This
allows for more custom-fit locations, such as under a kitchen cabinet,
in a tight space within an entertainment center, or on a smaller
side table. In addition, the S2U models feature Optical Picture
Control (OPC) for automatic brightness adjustments to suit room
conditions, and two S-Video inputs.
The more traditional B4U AQUOS series retains
the sleek and stylish design that has defined the AQUOS series since
its inception. Two speakers frame the LCD panel on either side of
the screen, producing high-quality, stereo audio. Both new series
feature a removable stand with a carrying handle that makes transportation
and set-up simple.
*According to a 2002 report from DisplaySearch,
an Austin, Texas-based market research firm, Sharp Corporation is
the global leader in LCD TV.
** When combined with an HDTV decoder.
