Audio Design Associates Present A Radically New Electronics
Concept for High-End Home Theatre
Audio Design Associates, Inc. (ADA) has announced it will be unveiling
a drastically new concept for home theater preamplification at this
year's CEDIA Expo in Indianpolis. Based on a design principle that
intends to combine ultimate performance with ultimate flexibility,
Cinema X will forever change the way high-end home theater electronics
are connected as a system.
When it comes to high-end cutting-edge home
theater electronics, ADA helped write the book. Among the first
home theater manufacturers to utilize Dolby Pro Logic decoding in
1989, ADA was also among the first manufacturers to embrace THX
design specifications in 1992. In 1994, ADA won best of show when
it introduced the Olympus III, the world's first tube surround sound
decoder. ADA was the first manufacturer to begin shipping both a
Dolby Digital (at the time Dolby AC-3) preamplifier and AC-3 RF
Demodulator in 1996. Later that same year, ADA was the again the
first manufacturer to deliver DTS decoding. In 1999, ADA introduced
the first Dolby EX add-on decoder for its Cinema series preamplifiers
(which were already 5.1). In 2000, ADA introduced the most expensive
home theater preamplifier, the Cinema Renaissance ($75,000) which
incorporated a tube output stage first introduced in the Olympus
III in 1994. In 2001, ADA again was among the first round of manufacturers
to include THX Ultra2, Dolby Pro Logic II, and DTS ES, into their
second generation Cinema preamplifiers, the Cinema Reference Mach
II and Cinema Rhapsody Mach II. This long list of industry firsts
clearly shows that ADA's engineering team lives on the cutting-edge
of home theater electronics.
Albert G. Langella, ADA's President and Chief
Design Engineer notes, "ADA thrives on inventing and creating the
most advanced technologies for home theater and whole-house audio/video.
The introduction of Cinema X brings on a completely new era in home
theater design. We have pulled out all of the stops with radically
new concept."
Cinema X to be precise, is designed for the
more elaborate home theaters in which budget is usually not an issue.
The system involves a series of components that all center around
the Cinema X processor/preamplifier. The Cinema X features connectivity
for host of standard and completely new technologies including 1394,
USB, DVI, and AES/EBU. "From an future-proof standpoint, we feel
that Cinema X goes beyond state-of-the-art" states Richard D. Stoerger,
Vice President & C.O.O. "It combines the most realistic surround
decoding, superior output staging, and remote interconnectivity
to provide the designer/installer of the ultimate home theater with
a completely new tool."
In addition to the main processor/preamplifier,
the Cinema X, the system includes the X-Terminal, an expandable
and customizable termination block for sources to the system. The
X-Terminal can be located at extreme distances from the Cinema X.
The two interconnect using ADA's new "Digital Link" which requires
only two standard Cat. 5 cables. As such, components that feed the
primary theater need not sit directly next to the preamplifier/processor.
For the output stage, the system can include the OTS-X Output Tube
Stage. Again, using ADA's all new Digital Link, two Cat. 5 cables,
which run from the Cinema X to the OTS-X, the designer/installer
can elect to situate the home theater power amplifiers at an extreme
distance from the processor/preamplifier. The OTS-X features D/A
conversion and an eight-channel tube output stage. For theaters
running multiple channels (beyond just 7.1 channels), several OTS-X's
can be used.
In addition to the OTS-X, ADA plans to introduce
home theater power amplifiers that feature ADA's unique Digital-Link
connectivity. These amplifiers will interconnect using two standard
Cat. 5 cables and can also be used in conjunction with the OTS-X.
