New 42-inch Plasma TV Provides 'Best In Class' Picture Performance With High Altitude Functionality

The new model is designed to operate at altitudes up to 9,000 feet above sea level making it an ideal choice for installations in high-altitude locales.

Runco International, the acknowledged leader in video technology for high-end home theater, introduces the CW-42i widescreen flat panel display monitor. The new model is designed to operate at altitudes up to 9,000 feet above sea level making it an ideal choice for installations in high-altitude locales.

The new CW-42i, which replaces the CW-42, offers a variety of improvements including a new fan-free design, making it perfect for applications where quiet operation is required. The new model also boasts 20 percent more brightness than its predecessor, and features an anti-glare filter to diffuse direct light sources, allowing images to be easily viewed in adverse lighting conditions.

'This product is ideal for those seeking excellent flat panel DTV picture quality, ease of installation, and a full compliment of advanced features at a very competitive price,' says Ben Jamison, Runco's Vice President of Sales and Marketing. 'We realize our dealers in high- altitude areas need plasmas products that are specifically designed to operate at high altitudes, and the CW-42i brings Runco brand prestige and best-in-class 480p picture quality, making it the obvious choice in this category.'

The CW-42i has a 42-inch (diagonal) screen and a depth of less than 4 inches, offering a design that allows for multiple mounting options including wall, table top stand, and custom-installation applications. The CW-42i offers a native resolution of 853x480 and is capable of reproducing all available HDTV formats (via an outboard DTV decoder), including 480p, 720p and 1080i.

Multiple aspect ratio control includes Runco Virtual Wide mode to fill the 16:9 screen with standard 4:3 images without loss of picture quality. There are a generous number of inputs (including DVI w/HDCP for 480p digital video signals) and custom automation control is easily handled with both RS-232C and IR interfaces. Runco incorporates its acclaimed Vivix processing into the CW-42i. This standard processing includes 3D-scan conversion with motion compensation and 3:2 pulldown for excellent video performance with both video-based and film-based material.
