UK launch of the First and Only Internet-Powered Universal AV Remote - the Harmony SST-768

Activity-based control with Smart State Technology defines new levels of simplicity for universal remote controls

Intrigue Technologies are pleased to announce the UK launch of the award-winning Harmony Remote SST-768 - the first and only Internet-powered universal remote control.

While all other universal remote controls offer device-by-device control, the Harmony Remote SST-768 provides activity-based control. Patent-pending Smart State Technology(tm) (SST) translates the hundreds of buttons and complex settings of today's home cinema equipment into a simple, intuitive experience that anyone in the home can enjoy.

SST does not require programming, complicated 'Macros' or any specialised training. With a Harmony Remote, all anyone needs to do is select the Activity on the remote's display and the SST will do the rest. For example, if "Watch a DVD" is selected the Harmony Remote will send all the commands and start your DVD all in one step. The user will never again need to navigate the jungle of wires behind every AV system just to figure out what unit is plugged into which input socket.

Users configure the SST-768 by connecting it to the Harmony Remote website via the remote's USB plug-and-play port and a home computer. Once connected, users answer simple questions that tell the Harmony Remote how their entertainment system is set up. For example, "What is the model number of your DVD player?" and "When you watch a DVD, do you listen to the sound from your TV speakers, or your stereo receiver speakers?" HarmonyRemote.com web wizards then create a custom configuration which is then downloaded into the remote control's memory and used by the on-board SST. This configuration is always safely stored on the user's web page so they can make changes any time they want with their web browser.

The Harmony Remote controls home entertainment devices such as (but certainly not limited to) TVs, VCRs, DVDs, Lighting control units, Satellite receivers, CDs, Tuners and MP3 players. Available from September 2003, the SST-768 will retail for £249 including VAT.
