Sigma Designs And Mediabolic Collaborate To Provide Platforms For Consumer Entertainment Products

Sigma Designs, a leader in digital media processing for consumer appliances, and Mediabolic, a leader in networked entertainment middleware, today announced that they are working in partnership to create platforms for consumer entertainment products. Consumer entertainment products that will use these new platforms include networked DVD players, IP video set-top boxes, digital TVs, personal video recorders (PVRs), digital video endpoints, connected media adapters and media gateways. This announcement validates the industry trend towards tightly integrated, consumer entertainment options.

Both companies will jointly showcase their combined technology at IFA 2003 in Berlin August 29 through September 3 in Hall 23, Stand 102.

Under the joint relationship, both parties have integrated entertainment features by combining Mediabolic middleware with Sigma Designs media processing hardware. The solution addresses the needs of leading set-top box manufacturers, systems integrators, consumer electronic manufacturers, networking and PC peripheral companies, and broadband and entertainment service providers worldwide. These companies will benefit from a shorter time-to-market and an optimized combination of technologies.
