D-Link And TI Launch 802.11g+ Line Following 802.11b+
Success
D-Link Systems, Inc. and Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) today
announced that D-Link will launch a new family of 802.11g+ products
based on the TI TNETW1130 chipset that delivers up to an 8x improvement
over 802.11b average throughputs. The D-Link AirPlus Xtreme G+ product
line features TI's 802.11g+ technology, which enables high-performance,
affordable Wi-Fi devices that are IEEE 802.11g compliant and offer
complete interoperability and mixed-mode performance with 802.11b
products.
"Following the success of our D-Link AirPlus
802.11b+ product line, we are glad to extend our relationship with
TI to deliver the D-Link AirPlus G+ 802.11g+ capable products that
will help us maintain our Wi-Fi market leadership," said Steven
Joe, President of D-Link Systems, Inc. "Adding the TI TNETW1130
"G+" technology to our high performance G family of products will
allow us to offer the widest scope of 802.11g solutions on the market
today."
The new D-Link AirPlus Xtreme G+ product
family will deliver high-speed throughput allowing consumers faster
emailing, Internet downloads and smooth streaming of entertainment
applications such as video and audio. Targeted for European and
Asian distribution, it will be available in late third quarter of
2003.
"D-Link and TI have a history of fueling
the 802.11b market with the success they achieved with D-Link's
802.11b+ line last year. The new D-Link 802.11g+ product line will
continue that trend by carrying 802.11g to the next level," said
Allen Nogee, principal analyst from In-Stat/MDR.
TI's TNETW1130 802.11g solution draws on
TI's history in providing turbo-modes for increased throughput and
superior mixed-mode performance with its 802.11b+ products. The
TNETW1130 was one of the first solutions to gain Wi-Fi CERTIFIED(r)
status for IEEE 802.11g devices.
"By choosing TI's 802.11g+ solution, D-Link
is able to deliver high throughput so consumers can get more out
of their WLANs," said Marc Cetto, general manager of TI's Wireless
Networking Business Unit. "TI's 802.11g+ solution is optimized to
deliver the highest performance and interoperability in any 802.11g
or 802.11b network. We are pleased to add D-Link to the growing
list of worldwide customers that have adopted the TNETW1130 for
their 802.11g products."
The D-Link AirPlus Xtreme G+ product line
includes the D-Link DWL-G2000AP, a 2.4GHz 802.11g compliant Wireless
Access Point that is easily setup and managed through a convenient
web-based interface; the D-Link DWL-G650+ 2.4GHz 802.11g compliant
32-bit Wireless CardBus Adapter for 802.11g+ mobility in laptop
computers; and the D-Link DWL-G520+ 2.4GHz 802.11g compliant 32-bit
Wireless PCI Adapter that installs easily into desktop computers.
The D-Link AirPlus Xtreme G+ products will be available late Q3
2003 to D-Link's European and Asian markets.
