SRS Labs' WOW Technology Featured in New Flat Screen LCD Televisions From Market Share Leader Samsung

Samsung Becomes First Manufacturer in Korea to Use SRS WOW Technology for Television Market

SRS Labs, Inc., a leading provider of innovative audio, voice and semiconductor technology solutions, today announced that it its stereo audio enhancement technology, WOW(TM), continues to be chosen by leaders in consumer electronics to deliver the best quality audio experience possible. Samsung, the number one electronics manufacturer in Korea, has expanded their license of SRS Labs' WOW technology and has launched a new 17" LCD television model, LT17N2. WOW delivers audio that explodes beyond the television speakers and fills the room with a panoramic 3D soundstage with enhanced bass from even the smallest speakers, such as those found in thin profile TVs.

The companies' recent licensing agreement allows for the license of SRS Labs' patented WOW(TM) audio technology across multiple Samsung product lines and divisions. This new television product marks the second division within Samsung to feature WOW. Earlier this year, the portable audio division featured WOW in yepp(R) digital audio players and microcomponent stereo products.

Samsung is utilizing Micronas' popular MSP 3420 TV chip solution with SRS WOW for this new LCD TV featuring SRS WOW. As part of SRS Labs' ongoing platform strategy to achieve comprehensive coverage for its technology solutions within key vertical high volume and high growth product markets, it has partnered with Micronas, one of the leading suppliers of TV IC solutions. Through its chip platform strategy, SRS Labs' audio technologies have become broadly available in both analog and digital implementations from various chip partners including: AKM, Analog Devices, LG Electronics, Micronas, NJRC, Philips, ST Microelectronics, Toshiba, ASP Microelectronics, and Renesas (formerly Mitsubishi Electric).

SRS Labs' technologies address all types of television products, from standard analog color and black and white models to the latest advanced projection, LCD, plasma and HDTV (high definition television) sets. The company's WOW technology is a combination of SRS Labs' SRS, TruBass and Dialog Clarity technologies in one optimized solution for the ultimate enhancement of mono or stereo television models. WOW compensates for the limitations inherent in the smaller speakers that are usually found in televisions by providing a panoramic audio image that extends the sound in both the vertical and horizontal planes and creates the perception of deep rich bass.
