Texas Instruments announce the shipment of its 2 millionth DLP subsystem

Customers' products "achieving enormous popularity" in the marketplace

Texas Instruments (TI) announced the shipment of its 2 millionth DLP(tm) subsystem. The company had announced its 1 millionth shipment in December 2001, meaning that 1 million DLP subsystems have been shipped in just over 18 months. The first products enabled by DLP technology came to market in early 1996.

"We are delighted by this achievement - for ourselves, of course, but mostly for our customers because their success is our success," said John Van Scoter, vice president and general manager of the DLP Products Division at TI. "What this milestone means is that our customers are taking our technology and turning it into products that are achieving enormous popularity in the marketplace at an accelerating rate. As the marketplace becomes more sophisticated, increasing numbers of projector users are valuing the astonishing picture quality, incredible flexibility and outstanding reliability that DLP technology helps bring to our customers' products."

"DLP technology enables us to develop and deliver the quality, cutting-edge projection solutions that our customers have come to expect," said Kyle Ranson, executive vice president of worldwide sales and marketing at InFocus(r) Corporation. "Our partnership with TI has produced products that lead the market with picture quality, uniquely low weight and compact form factor, and delivery of more brightness per pound of weight than is possible with other technologies. We congratulate them on this milestone."
