Music and Pictures to the Living Room
D2730 Networked DVD Player to Begin Shipping Throughout the U.S.
on July 14 - First-of-its-kind DVD Player Streams Digital Media
Wirelessly From the PC to the TV
Go-Video, in partnership with Digital 5, Inc., today announced
it will begin shipping its new award-winning D2730 Networked DVD
Player throughout the U.S. on July 14th. Introduced to the public
at this year's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the Networked
DVD Player is the first product of its kind with the capability
to stream video, music, and picture files through a wireless or
wired network from a computer to a consumer electronics component.
The Networked DVD Player combines a slim-line design and high-end
styling to give consumers networking capability bundled with the
features and functions of an advanced DVD player.
Go-Video first approached Digital 5 in mid-2002
and quickly embraced the potential of the company's new innovative
streaming technology. Go-Video worked in exclusive partnership with
Digital 5 to design this streaming technology into a new Go-Video
top of the line DVD. The final product - the world's first Networked
DVD Player with StreamLink(TM) technology - is the result of the
significant collaborative efforts of the Go-Video Digital 5 team.
"Introducing the first Networked DVD Player
maintains Go-Video's long-standing tradition of pioneering new segments
of the consumer electronics market, better enabling consumers to
play and manage their entertainment content," said Ed Brachocki,
president and chief operating officer of Go-Video. "We've equipped
this product with many of today's most advanced and sought after
features, allowing consumers to enjoy the numerous benefits that
this versatile DVD player offers. With advanced networking and streaming
capabilities supported by an intuitive, easy-to-use TV menu system,
we firmly believe our Networked DVD Player will exceed the expectations
of DVD enthusiasts and technologically savvy consumers."
"When we initially partnered with Go-Video
in August 2002 to develop the necessary technologies to connect
the PC to Go-Video's high-end DVD player, we knew that everything
from the TV user interface to the PC wizard disk had to be simple
and intuitive to meet the consumer electronics standard," said Scott
Tandy, Digital 5's vice president of marketing. "Go-Video's expertise
in creating innovative consumer electronics products that are easy-to-use,
coupled with our technological prowess in developing and implementing
streaming technologies, was a winning team from the start. We're
excited about the D2730 Networked DVD Player's advanced capabilities,
and believe that U.S. consumers will embrace the product quickly
once they discover how easy it is to access the volumes of content
currently trapped on their home computers."
In addition to its streaming capabilities,
the Go-Video Networked DVD Player comes with many sophisticated
DVD features including a Progressive Scan output that provides enhanced
quality picture, and a built in Dolby(R) Digital decoder giving
consumers flexibility in their surround sound applications. The
D2730 is equipped with Composite, Component, and S-Video outputs
giving users the highest video quality, and Coaxial and Optical
Digital Audio Outputs. StreamLink(TM) technology enables audio,
video and pictures to be accessed on the PC from the TV using either
a wired or wireless home network.
This exciting product continues to garner
awards and recognition, having been selected by the Consumer Electronics
Association (CEA) as a 2003 Innovation Award winner and capturing
Popular Science Magazine's Editor's Choice Award. Debuting with
the best new products the competition had to offer at this year's
Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the Go-Video Networked DVD
Player was a Finalist for TechTV's Best of CES 2003.
The Go-Video D2730 Networked DVD Player carries
an MSRP of $299 and is shipping to retailers throughout the United
States.
