JVC DR-M1 DVD Recorder with PAL Progressive and Multi-Format Compatibility

JVC, a leading manufacturer of audio/video products, proudly introduces a multi-format disc recorder - the DR-M1. It allows playback of virtually all audio and video disc formats available now - DVD-Video, DVD-RAM, DVD-RW, DVD-R, CD, Video CD and CD-R/RW - and recording in DVD-RAM, DVD-R or DVD-RW format.

With the DR-M1, superior picture quality is achieved through the use of advanced noise reduction technologies - Block Noise Reduction Circuit and Hadamard Noise Reduction System for reducing mosquito noise.

Moreover, the DR-M1 is one of the first models compatible with PAL Progressive format. The 2-2 Pull-down conversion is conducted without converting the original data to interlace data, so it reproduces impeccably high-quality images - close to those you enjoy in movie theatres - from various sources.

JVC's enthusiasm for superior picture quality is also reflected in the recording performance. Making use of DVD-RAM flexibility, JVC designed the DR-M1 to record images in four different horizontal resolutions - more than 500 lines, 400 lines, 340 lines and 250 lines - according to the length of recording time, while conventional players allow only two - more than 500 lines or 250 lines. With the DR-M1, resolution of recorded images is not lowered abruptly at longer recording.

The new DVD recorder also conducts effective noise reduction prior to MPEG encoding of input signals - from VHS video tapes, for example - with the Super MPEG Encode Pre-Processor. It first reduces jitters with Time Base Corrector, and then eliminates frame crossover jitters with Frame Synchronizer. Moreover, unlike conventional recorders, noises of moving images are also reduced effectively with the JVC Motion Active Noise Reduction, which precisely detects pixel motion and applies algorithms to eliminate edge smear and image lag.

Added to these advanced recording features is the i.LINK connection, which allows direct digital-digital conversion of DVC input signals for recordings of pictures with less noise and highly accurate details. And the Linear PCM recording capability ensures recording of high-quality sound.

While the synergy of these advanced technologies ensures high-quality pictures, a multitude of user-friendly functions enhance the convenience and usability of the DR-M1.

On-Disc Timer Programming is a unique, convenient function that writes the data for timer recording to discs as well. It means that you can set the timer just by loading a programmed disc into the DR-M1. This also ensures that a particular programme is always recorded on the same disc.

Live Memory permits the simultaneous recording and playback, letting you play scenes you missed without stopping current recording or waiting until the end. It is especially convenient when you have to leave your room during a programme.

Library Database DVD Navi helps you with the management of programmes you have played back before. With this advanced feature, the DR-M1 is capable of memorising the information of up to 1,300 programmes and ready to tell you which disc to load to view a particular programme.

When you load a disc, the DR-M1 shows you the thumbnail pictures of the recorded contents. The thumbnail pictures are animated when the cursor is placed over it, making it easy for you to recognise the programme content. This is a JVC-developed technology, and the DR-M1 is the world's first player to come with this feature.

The DR-M1 lets you fully enjoy the benefits of DVD with other playback functions, including Forward Skip (30 seconds) and Rewind Skip (7 seconds). What's more, the DR-M1 allows reverse play at normal speed, which is distinctive with smooth, natural movement of pictures just like at regular playback.

With all of these state-of-the-art technologies incorporated into its slim body, the DR-M1 is ready to offer a higher level of home entertainment than has ever been experienced.
