Case studies Electronics Design Group - Winner Of CEDIA Electronic Lifestyles Award 2003 For Best Hidden Installation (5/1/2004)
Essay Precision Engineering Clean lines, no clutter and NO visible electronics! That was the criteria early on when we met this client to review the project. This sun room was an addition added on to the house. Located off the patio/ pool area, this room serves as a room to relax, read, listen to music and watch TV. By getting involved in the architectural planning stage, we were able to work with the architect and contractor to design and fit a 50" Plasma TV in the floor. Initially this room was designed with a small crawl space below. We suggested increasing the space to accommodate 4', which would allow us to raise the panel to a comfortable viewing height and conceal the center channel in the base. With the help of Electrokinetics, a "double" lift system was designed for this project. The Display is a Pioneer Pro-1000 fed by HDTV, both off-air and Direct TV, plus DVD and VHS Sources. The loudspeakers are sealed box Triad Units. Flanking the fireplace are the left and right channels and the center channel is mounted in the base of the plasma. The subwoofers and surround channels are also in-wall Triad. The equipment is housed in the rear right of the room cabinet in a Middle Atlantic AXS rack. The system is controlled via an AMX touchscreen with integration to lights, the AtV system, and motorized drapery behind the seating area.
