Europe's leading residential technology trade magazine

Newsletter - 6 November 2007 - Wiring & Networking

This year we've received a marked increase in invitations to be involved in events aimed at builders and property developers. This indicates how quickly the residential technology market is changing, and last month was no exception with a trip to Interbuild. While the self-build market has benefitted from the Smart Home Shows, Interbuild is the first mainsteam UK construction exhibition with a dedicated, albeit small, home automation section. Some commentators are devoting column inches to predicting doom and gloom for installers, however feedback from these recent events and the CEDIA US Expo indicates that there is still plenty of business to be done, even in a soft property market.

Are you ready for a new challenge? If so, the HiddenWires recruitment service currently includes two manufacturers looking for sales executives, and an installation company looking for a project engineer.

As supporters of the EMEA+ InAVation Technology and Project Awards 2008, we'd like to encourage you to enter your best residential or commercial projects. Entry is free and all entries will be included in a draw to win VIP tickets to the awards dinner which will take place at the Hotel Okura, Amsterdam on the eve of ISE. Deadline for project entries is 30th November. For conditions and the application form click here.

Our feature this month is Wiring & Networking, and is sponsored by The Multi-Room Company. We have six articles covering Leviton structured wiring, integrating CCTV with home networks, simplifying HD networks, what DLNA means for custom install, IPTV for TV distribution in large dwellings, and a whitepaper on home networking in Europe. We also have an article looking at the opportunities for smart home technology in the self-build market, and a case study of a countryside home in Hertfordshire.

Finally we'd like to welcome Elan Systems (UK) and BMB Electronics as new Silver sponsors.
