Combining sleek styling with award-winning sound and images, Meridian offers unique, fully integrated systems carrying pristine digital quality from the studio to the living room.

What's new?

The recent High End 2006 in Munich was a breath of fresh air as far as hi-fi shows go. Set in a modern exhibition centre, some 200 exhibitors showcased more than 600 brands of hi-fi and home cinema equipment, along with technical presentations and live music. Although a predominently consumer fair, it was professionally run, with a good press room and enthusiastic exhibitors who wanted to talk to you. With the use of modern sound booths, there's no reason why home entertainment shows in the UK couldn't be held in more inspiring venues, rather than being confined to cramped hotel rooms.

The CEDIA UK Expo will take place later this month. Our special CEDIA UK Expo 2006 news section already has a lot of news, but will be added to in the run up to the event - so make sure you check back to see the latest additions. The HiddenWires@CEDIA UK Expo 2006 newsletter will also be distributed in print at the show and online as a PDF just before the event opens. If you're attending, please visit the HiddenWires stand G18.

As Fifa World Cup '06 fever rises, BSkyB has been forced to delay the installation of its high-definition television service, Sky HD, for some subscribers, due to supply problems of the new set-top boxes. So how else can you, or your clients, view the action in glorious high definition? The BBC holds rights to half of the matches and will make them part of its HD trial. As long as you have an HD Ready television, both Pace and Humax offer set-top boxes at around GB£299 that are capable of receiving the BBC's trial transmission - with no subscription fees to pay.

Finally, our feature this month is Lighting and is sponsored by Crestron. We have four articles covering the DALI control protocol, wireless lighting control, retrofitting intelligent switches, and daylighting control.
