What's new?
We are delighted to have started the year by reaching
another landmark - January 2006 saw traffic to HiddenWires top 130,000
visitors. The exact figures were 130,287 visitors, 707,572 pages and 2,445,152
hits. This represents a 73% increase since last January and is due to
an ongoing marketing campaign, good content, and of course, the overall
increase in Internet usage.
Part of our strategy is to sponsor trade events and
we have just returned from the third Integrated Systems Europe, which
was held in Brussels this year. Co-hosted by CEDIA, InfoComm and NSCA,
the show continues to be a mix of commercial, industrial and residential
applications, and has established itself as an essential event in our
calendar. We'd like to welcome our new subscribers who signed up at the
show - please send us your feedback.
Our only complaint was that it was very cold, but the
excellent Belgian food and beer helped thaw us out. It would also be nice
to see a few more of the main audio component players taking part, although
there was plenty in the way of speakers, servers and multiroom systems.
The rest of the residential technology sector was well represented.
Attendance exceeded expectations with 10,970 visitors,
and 330 exhibitors from 30 countries. Besides the increase in numbers,
the exhibitors we spoke to reported good business. To back this up, 80%
of this year's space has already been booked for ISE 2007 in Amsterdam.
We have added to the HiddenWires
special ISE 2006 news section so it now offers the most comprehensive
coverage of residential technology at the event, and for those who didn't
get a copy at the show, the HiddenWires@ISE
2006 preview newsletter is also available as a PDF.
Finally, our feature this month is Installation and
is sponsored by Datacolor.
We have five articles covering video display calibration, underfloor heating,
inflight entertainment for private jets, The Application Home Initiative,
and transitioning from commercial installation.
